Loving- Kindness

Hey Bloggers,

My experience towards the Loving- Kindness exercise definitely surprised me by how it made me feel after finishing it. Even though you are supposed to practice it two times a day, my first time practicing it made me feel better towards others and their feelings. I personally have very heavy anxiety when it comes to environments packed with people I do not know and I feel like this exercise can help with that, by not looking at those individuals as worldly people but as a part of the human race who experiences attitudes, emotions and well-being just like mine. I would recommend this exercise to others most definitely, however I would recommend practicing it in a very quit environment. I found that during the times when the waves were just heard my mind began to wonder as to the dull sounds around me. I believe that concept of mental workout is the act of training the brain to be a guide to our choices, actions and thoughts. Research indicates that the benefits of mental health are ultimately human flourishing, focusing on the part of the body that controls the rest. Use the mental workouts to educate and put the mind in a healthy state were it can focus on the psychological health. Hope to hear great feedback!

  1. Hi Stephanie!
I'm glad to hear you had a good experience with this week's exercise. I found it a little difficult myself...and it made me a little sad to have to imagine a loved one's pain right after I focused on how much I loved them! But, I do think it opened me up a little by even allowing myself to think about how those things made me feel.
I am sorry to hear that you suffer from anxiety - that must be very difficult to deal with especially this time of year. Do you think that this class could help you with that? Maybe after some practice you will be able to train your brain to think positive thoughts in crowds and dull out the negative feelings a little. I think that would be amazing! Best of luck to you and have a great week :) Miranda
