Aesclepius Practice

Hey Bloggers,

During this week I practiced the Meeting Aesclepius four times, doing it twice a day. I feel like this particular practice takes time to get used to. The first time I listened to it I thought that it was kind of out there for me, but the more practiced the more understood. I think that the Meeting Aeclepius practice is something which you have to have an open imagination and mind about. I believe that mindfulness and meditation increase my psychological wellness by allowing other opportunities into my life then just environmental aspects. In order to continue applying these practices is to schedule a time that can be just for me to relax and work on training my brain. The saying, “one cannot lead another were one has not gone himself” meaning that if there is not personal experience with what one is teaching, then there will be a void when educating it. This apply's to a wellness professional by suggesting that you can not understand and track a clients progress of the mind, body and spirit if you have not practiced yourself. I feel like there is an obligation to patients to keep up with flourishing health because everyone goes through human flourishing in different ways, if you are not experienced and educated on the signs then there may be signs that would not be picked up. The way to implement psychological and spiritual growth into my personal life would be using Loving-kindness, Subtle mind and meditation practices in order to work daily on training my brain to consciously be opened. Hope to hear from yal!

  1. Hi Steph,

Yes, this exercise does take quite an imagination in order to conduct, but at the same time it is very beneficial due to the fact that in doing so will build a mental strength , because you would have to block out your surroundings in order to focus on the task at head. Thus leaning toward a strong focused mind. I enjoyed the way you were able to translate the quote you took the exact words I wanted to say but just at the time I could not translate the quote as elegant as you. Very well put.

  2. This practice was long. I couldn't really pinpoint a person to focus on in my life so I just imagined a being with no name or face. I too, think it's necessary for "us" to practice what we teach. Our clients wouldn't take us seriously if not.

  3. Hi Steph,

Wow! You did this meditation practice four time?! That's great! I only did it once...but your motivation is wonderful. Who did you chose to visualize for the Meeting Aesclepius exercise? Or did you have to create somebody? I imagined my husband's grandfather. He was such a kind and wonderful man. The world needs more people like him! I do look forward to the different meditative practices we do every week. It is actually something that I would like to continue once this class is over. That is where it will take self discipline on my part to make it happen!

  4. I strongly believe that what we focus our minds and thoughts on, we will get. I think the Sun was a great focal point for the exercise. Having experience as a health and wellness professional brings about such a greater level of credibility to the profession and believably to the client.

  5. That is fantastic that you took the time to do this more than once to really get a feel for it. I would agree with the fact that this meditation seemed to take a lot of mental focus but was well worth it in the end. It is very important for a health and wellness professional to follow and understand all aspects that they may be trying to lead others to do.
